Before leaving your new Buick behind on a hot day, did you remove everything valuable? A hot day can be dangerous to items inside your car, so you must be careful what you leave behind. Courtesy of Brown and Wood Buick GMC, here are seven items you should never leave behind on a sweltering day.

KIDS AND PETS

Hopefully, you already know not to leave your kids and pets behind on a hot day. High temperatures and sun exposure can harm your loved ones; always take them with you whenever possible, and give them plenty of water.

MEDICINE

If you carry life-saving drugs in your new Buick vehicle, don’t leave them behind on a hot day. Prolonged heat exposure can cause the medicine to lose effectiveness.

ELECTRONICS

While your electronics are built to withstand some heat, prolonged exposure can cause irreparable damage. Keep your electronics locked away in a cool compartment away from sunlight.

FOOD AND DRINK

Any perishable food and drink spoil even quicker on hot summer days. Take groceries out of your vehicle as soon as you can.

LIGHTERS

A lighter can explode if it gets too hot. Thus, you need to remove lighters before it gets too hot.

WET TOWELS

Are you taking a day at the beach in your new Buick vehicle? Don’t leave wet towels and clothes in your car for long, as they can breed bacteria and yeast.

SUNSCREEN

Sunscreen is fantastic for protecting you and your passengers from the sun. However, it loses effectiveness when exposed to high heat.
